Brussels explosions: What we know about airport and metro attacks - BBC News

I have the honor of teaching another ESI Bomb course next week, with all that has happen this year it is even more critical that we learn how to recognize these events in the planning stages. In a bombing situation the response is mainly evacuating the survivors and picking up the pieces, drawing weapons or jumping on the attackers is not really a plan. Bombs end very quickly, they may use weapons to kill survivors, but the bomb incident is over. So we need to find ways to catch the bomber in the planning or staging times as our only real chance to win against them. Knowing what a bomb of a size or type can do, helps with understanding what the bomber can plan to do. Knowing the target is also a big plus, which we have the advantage of in most cases.
